“Montreal-based furniture designer Stamátios Fragos connects the past to the future through meticulously handcrafted homeware. Parállilo, the designer’s debut collection, offers an assortment of sculptural lighting inspired by the elegance of Greco-Roman columns. Convertible two-piece table lamps and one-of-a-kind geometric night lights are made from slatted dowels designed to filter light and radiate a balanced glow. Informed by classic design principles, Fragos shapes polished maple, walnut, and aluminum into ambient pillars that reconceptualize traditional forms of lighting. An ode to the strength of Grecian architecture, the collection of functional lighting designs by Stamátios Fragos combines history, innovation, and visual splendor.”

“Drawing upon his contemporary design studies and personal heritage, Stamátios aimed to create a product that was modern and minimalistic, but inscribed into a rich architectural and artistic history. The result was a table lamp evoking Greco-Roman columns—geometric in its simple construction, yet organic in its soft play with light. All objects by Stamátios are carefully produced by hand, allowing for material experimentation and exploration that push objects beyond the boundaries of their histories.”

“Sid Lee Architecture taps into mid-century design philosophies to breathe life into Lou’s vision of modern, unpretentious dining. Lou’s revisits the simple ambitions that defined the modern north eastern dream. Rather than romanticizing and falsely idealizing the past, it’s an opportunity to reaffirm the utopic, futuristic, optimistic and hedonistic goals that were at the foundation of this movement. Small but mighty, Lou’s compact size lends itself to the warm, welcoming atmosphere typical of American-style bistros and Usonian builds, alike. The main dining area is also illuminated by brass wall sconces and ebony Cherry wood table lamps designed by local maker Stamatios.”

“Inspired by his contemporary design studies, Stamátios Fragos brings sleek, modern pieces to life whose silhouettes pay tribute to architectural marvels that have marked our history.”

“This collection is covered in history, borrowing its structure from Ancient Greece and maintaining a contemporary design style. These pillars of light embody a feeling of order, strength and balance, illuminating the styles of architectural columns (classical order). The wooden dowels create a shade that both blocks and reflects the LED bulb, casting light into vertical strips that fade into an even glow. The removable top-shade acts as a manual dimmer that allows the lamp to transform its shape and intensity and integrate into various surroundings.”
